Retatrutide adds two Phase 3 wins with A1C and weight-loss results
The strongest public story from the last few days is not a new brand fight or another access dispute. It is the next retatrutide readout. Drug Topics reports that Lilly's once-weekly triple agonist has now produced positive topline results in TRIUMPH-2 and TRIUMPH-3, two late-stage trials in adults with obesity and major metabolic or cardiovascular comorbidity. That moves the program from promise toward a real regulatory package. The numbers are the reason this deserves the lead slot. In TRIUMPH-2, adults with obesity or overweight and type 2 diabetes lost up to an average of 20.8%, or 49.6 pounds, over 80 weeks, while A1C fell by as much as 1.6 percentage points. In TRIUMPH-3, adults with severe obesity and established cardiovascular disease lost up to an average of 22.6%, or 55.8 pounds, with additional movement in markers such as triglycerides, non-HDL cholesterol, blood pressure, waist circumference, and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein.
