Roche's dual-hormone shot moved 48% of people past 20% body weight loss

Roche reported that CT-388, a weekly shot that acts on two hormones at once, put 22.5 percentage points of body weight between itself and placebo after 48 weeks in a Phase 2 trial of 469 people. At the highest dose tested, 48% of enrollees lost more than 20% of their body weight.

Comparable to Zepbound is the reading analysts are working with, and CT-388 gets there the same way, by stimulating the two incretin hormones GLP-1 and GIP. What it rests on is a mid-stage company announcement rather than a published paper, and Roche says it plans to start Phase 3 testing by the end of March.

Two numbers came out of the same trial. The 22.5 percentage points set aside people who left or stopped taking the shot; counting them, the calculation closer to real-world use, the gap is 18.3. A Jefferies analyst read that distance as a sign of an adherence question at some doses, and asked whether Roche's obesity programs will be meaningful sellers in a field this crowded.

Fuller results are due at a future medical meeting, late-stage testing has not yet started, and what an investigational medicine means for any one person belongs with a qualified clinician who knows their health history.
