Ozempic Can Turn Into No-zempic
A highly visible medicine can work very differently from one person to the next.

The success stories around GLP-1 medicines can make a quiet outcome feel like a personal failure: taking a drug, tolerating it, and seeing little change. Some people expected the dramatic results they had watched others have, only to find that their weight barely moved or that side effects made treatment impossible to continue. That experience is not rare enough to dismiss as an exception.
Clinical trials and specialists cited in the article show why the average result is not a promise. In one study, about 14 percent of people taking semaglutide for obesity lost less than 5 percent of their weight; a comparable range appeared with tirzepatide. Some people stop because gastrointestinal side effects are too severe. Others tolerate the medicine but do not respond strongly, and researchers do not yet have a simple explanation for every case.
One reason is that obesity is not a single biological problem with a single switch. GLP-1 medicines act on appetite and insulin signaling, but the factors that influence weight can also involve metabolism, genetics, stress, environment, other medical conditions, and pathways a GLP-1 does not address. A medicine can be powerful in the right pathway without being the right answer for every body.
That is a better way to read the hype. A weak response is information, not proof that someone has failed to try hard enough or that the medicine is fake. Treatment changes belong with a qualified clinician, but the larger point is plain: a category can be transformative and still leave people behind. The honest story has room for both facts at once.
