Do GLP-1 peptides cause dehydration?

Not directly. The peptide doesn't dry the body out. Eating and drinking less around the peptide can.

WHY THE FLOOR DROPS

When appetite drops, thirst signals shift too. People drink less because they eat less, and the moments that normally prompt fluid intake (meals) shrink. On top of that, GI side effects (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) speed up fluid loss.

WHAT THE LABEL SAYS

The Wegovy label spells out the downstream risk. The FDA includes an acute kidney injury warning tied specifically to severe GI reactions and the volume depletion that follows. Dehydration on these peptides is one of the most common reasons people end up in clinic during the first weeks.

What this means

It is not the peptide drying the body. It is the daily fluid floor not being met because thirst follows appetite, and appetite is what the peptide shrinks.

Dehydration on these peptides is not the molecule. It is the missing fluid floor when thirst stops asking.
