Food makers are testing for the smaller-appetite customer
Food companies are testing smaller, protein-forward and portion-aware products as some consumers using GLP-1 medicines rethink what a meal looks like.

Some packaged-food makers are testing smaller portions, protein-forward concepts and new language for people who say they are eating less. The change is showing up in the products designed for one of America’s most ordinary routines: deciding what to buy for a meal.
That can reshape more than a package. Portion size, familiar flavors and the idea of what counts as satisfying all influence household food habits, even as companies try to learn whether a smaller-appetite customer will be a lasting one.
These tests do not show that demand has changed everywhere, that a product is healthier or that anyone needs a different diet. They show the food system probing a new pattern while its reach and durability remain uncertain.
